Volunteering is a form of giving of yourself. Famous men have said that “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” When we give, especially of ourselves without expecting anything in return, we get a great sense of appreciation for how remarkably blessed we are.
Finding ways of volunteering in our community connects us more closely to our community and we get to invest in others. What a great lesson to teach our children!!
So, how does the generous act of volunteering improve wellness? Whenever we do a selfless act like volunteering, it releases many feel-good hormones in our brains that gives a sense of well-being and happiness. Try it, you’ll see.
I encourage you to take the kids and maybe the dog, if appropriate, and go find a charity or organization in which you can volunteer. You’ll be so glad you did. Watch how much bonding you will be able to do with your own children when you volunteer together.
